Walking has big all-round benefits on health.

Walking is the most accessible of all leisure activities - after all, you can do it anytime, anywhere, with no equipment from your front doorstep or on the upper slopes of Kinder Scout.

We all need to walk at some time just to get around, but doing so that extra bit more can do wonders for your health - even regular short strolls have proven benefits.

Whether it's walking the kids to school, an organised walk, taking part in a one-off event or going for a serious hike, there are ample opportunities across Derbyshire for you to get involved.

It's also a very sociable pursuit too. Many people have met lifelong friends through walking - and you can do so too.
