Towards an Active Derbyshire - Thank You

Thanking those who are helping to make physical activity the norm

We want to say 'thank you' to the amazing organisations, clubs, facilities, volunteers, people and places across Derbyshire which are helping to make physical activity the norm.

We asked for your help to say 'thank you' to some of the people, groups, clubs and organisations who have helped to make physical activity the norm over the past four years.

From 10-21 May we highlighted the people, groups, clubs and organisations, which you told us about, who are using physical activity and sport to make a real difference in their communities and to the lives of others. During the two-week campaign we highlighted their work and how important and powerful physical activity can be.

Stories from our community

Studio 44- Emma and Daniel Harris

"Studio 44 Emma and Daniel have been amazing during lockdown making sure children get their exercise, and adults too, by doing online classes of boogie bounce dancing and other activities.

They have also been out and about hiring their trampolines to people to stay active and still trying to bring up a young family. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they will help where ever they can especially when it helps people staying active."

Unit 1 Fitness and Martial Arts

To round off our Thank you campaign, we had several submissions to thank Dave Cartawick, Hannah Kendall and all at Unit 1 for their help to make activity happen. Here's what people had to say:

"Hannah, Dave and the team have been raising money for charity, adapting lessons for differently abled people and altering their timetables and lesson formats to accommodate for Covid safety and lockdowns all the while communicating with members to keep them updated and encouraged to keep moving and #keepkicking"

Well Fit Warehouse

We also received the this positive story for the Well Fit Warehouse

"Throughout the COVID pandemic they have always been there for us. They straight away adjusted their business so that they could provide some online classes via Zoom. They are continually providing support and uplifting messages. Their work has meant that I have been able to continue my exercise regime and therefore maintain my mental health as well as my physical health. I will forever be thankful to them!"
