Normal website usage
You can visit most parts of the Active Derbyshire web site without telling us who you are and without giving us any personal information. The only information we collect from a normal website visit is the name of your internet service provider (ISP), the web site that referred you to us, the browser and type of machine you are using, the pages you request and the date and time of those requests.
We collect this information on an aggregate basis only. For example, we track which pages are most and least popular. This information is used for internal purposes only and is not shared with third parties. We do not collect any other information without the visitor's knowledge and permission.
We use this information to improve the site. During a normal web site visit, we do not collect or store any personally identifiable information.

Active Derbyshire will only pass on information about you as an individual user to partners if this is required to perform a service you have requested or with your prior consent. Partners include other organisations that have licensed the SportSuite software such as neighbouring County Sport Partnerships and national governing bodies of sport. When we deliver services and information through our website we want to make sure these are useful, reliable and easy to use. To make this happen, it sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device, for example, your computer or mobile phone. These include small files known as cookies. They cannot be used to identify you personally.
These pieces of information are used to improve services for you through, for example:
- enabling the website to recognise your device so you don't have to give the same information multiple times during one task,
- measuring how many people are using online services so we can make sure that there is enough capacity to make them work efficiently, and look at ways we can make them easier to use.
Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.aboutcookies.org.
To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
A session cookie is a reference to you for the duration of your visit on the site. It enables us to secure our forms by checking that no one else is pretending to be you. The cookie only lasts as long as your visit.
Remember my details
When you select "Use a cookie to remember this" we set a cookie to remember who you are. This might be, for example, when entering your postcode to find local information or logging in to the site. This cookie will last for 1 year from when it is first set. After this time, or if you delete the cookie yourself, you will need to re-enter your details on your next visit.
In-site search engine
We use Google's site search tool to enable our users to search within our websites for the information they need. This tool handles the indexing and searching of our site and does not pass any information to any third party, including Google.
We embed videos from our official YouTube channel using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. This mode may set cookies on your computer once you click on the YouTube video player, but YouTube will not store personally-identifiable cookie information for playbacks of embedded videos using the privacy-enhanced mode.
