Latest Active Lives Derby and Derbyshire data now available

The full report into activity levels across Derby and Derbyshire have been recently developed with our partner, Press Red to understand Sport England's Active Lives Survey results locally. The data included in these results are from November 2018 to November 2019 and therefore don't include any results during COVID-19 restrictions. However, these results can help us to understand behaviours amongst the people within our communities. Some of the key findings include:

  • There have been no statistically significant changes to active or inactive proportions for Active Derbyshire
  • There is a considerable range in population profiles and inactivity levels across the districts within Active Derbyshire. Bolsover have seen a 'statistically significant' improvement in the inactive population. Derby City inactive population is more than double than of the next highest inactive district population
  • The gender inequality gap is reducing due to improvements in female inactivity levels, but male inactivity levels appear to be worsening
  • The inequality gap between those with and without a limiting illness is decreasing, Active Derbyshire are ranked 1 out of 5 nearest neighbours for inactivity levels for those with a limiting illness
  • Inactivity levels appear to be worsening for those aged under 55 but improving for those aged 55+
