Community Use of Schools summer holiday activities

Active Derbyshire is working in conjunction with South Derbyshire District Council and Derby County Community Trust to fund summer school activities in three schools.

Children will receive a varied timetable of activities including archery, boccia, football and laser tag, to keep them active, introduce them to new sports and help them with the transition process for the new school year.

The children will also be taking time to think about what physical activity they would like to see in school in the future, and sharing this with the facilitators of the sessions. This will give Active Derbyshire valuable insight to inform future work.

Children are also being given 'CreateActive' packs to help keep the children active at home and include equipment such as tennis balls, cones, bean bags and a racket as well as ideas of what to do with the resources.

This work has been funded by the 'Community Use of Schools' project and has seen partners working closely together, building on existing relationships and creating new ones.
