Nominations for the Derbyshire School Sport and Physical Activity Awards are now open.
Organised by Active Derbyshire, the Derbyshire Schools' Sports Association (DSSA), and the Derbyshire Active Schools Network (DASN), the awards recognise work undertaken to engage young people in more active and healthy lives as well as celebrating sporting achievements.
The awards are open to individuals, teams, groups and schools within Derbyshire, and nominations can be made by schools, sports associations or anyone from the wider community.
Categories have been revamped for 2019, and now include Volunteer of the Year, Teacher/Staff Member of the Year, Young Leader, Young Coach/Official, Active Project or Initiative, Active and Healthy School, Outstanding School Achievement, Outstanding Personal Achievement, Outstanding Team Achievement, and Personal Best.
The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Wednesday, July 31, and finalists will be invited to attend an awards ceremony at the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield in October.
Naomi Jones, Programme Lead for young people at Active Derbyshire, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with DSSA and DASN to organise and host this year's awards.
"The event celebrates the sporting and personal best achievements of young people from the county along with the fantastic work taking place in schools to promote health and wellbeing and engage more young people in becoming physically active. We look forward to showcasing some of the best examples of how this is happening across the county."
