Beat the January blues with RED January

It's not even Christmas but the team at Active Derbyshire are already thinking about the new year as we're supporting RED January. RED January is a community initiative encouraging people get active every day this January, to beat the blues away. We'd love other organisations across the county to sign up too and support their colleagues, friends, families and pets to move just 15 minutes every day during January to improve mental health and wellbeing.
If it's running 5k, or walking to work a new way, a morning swim or taking the bike for a spin we'll be joining the thousands of people around the UK kick-starting their 2019 in the most positive way.
We'll be sharing stories of how we get on next month and giving you some different ideas of how you can keep active during January too.
Rachael Dyer, Active Derbyshire says "We're really looking forward to getting involved and fully behind this brilliant campaign. For those of us with mental health conditions it can be a difficult time of year so it is important that across the county we show our support and promote the benefits that physical activity can have on our mental wellbeing. The RED initiative is a great way to take each day as it comes and find your way to be active in small chunks to help you get through the month."
