Natalie took up gymnastics as an adult

Natalie Cantillon is 37 years old and took up gymnastics as an adult. Natalie told us...

"I started adult gymnastics at the end of 2016 when my daughters' gymnastics club started adult classes; I wasn't active before and had never done gymnastics but now train for 1.5 hours each week. The classes just looked really fun and relaxed and everything is done at your level so you don't feel silly, it also g...ave me something in common with my gym crazy children

Prior to this it had been difficult finding the right thing that kept my interest, I've done jogging, aerobics classes and the gym but the difference with gymnastics is that you are learning new skills so as you work towards something you get that sense of achievement when you get it.

Since starting my strength and flexibility have improved and just the sense of accomplishment when you get a new skill is amazing – I got my one handed cartwheel the other week and I was so proud of myself!

I now feel better in myself, more toned and I have lost weight but more importantly, I just look forward to going along and I never thought that would be the case.

I have become more active generally and picked my jogging back up which is great. I would encourage other women to try new things and find the right fit for you, once you do it'll not feel like a chore."
