Post: Coach – Women’s Football 1st Team Responsible to: Union of Students (University of Derby) Hours: 1.5 hours per week for up to 22 weeks, plus any official BUCS match support, in line with the union’s allocation policy. (September 2021 to March/April 2022) Salary: £20 per hour General Job purpose: To organise and deliver coaching to the University of Derby Women’s Football 1st team and assist in the development of the players, with the aim of improving performances and results in the BUCS competitions

About Women's Football Coach 1st Team

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1) To be the key Union contact with regards to operational development duties, working alongside the clubs elected student committee members.

2) To develop and deliver effective team training and individual skill development sessions on a weekly basis in preparation for fixtures and competitions

3) Responsible for the selection and tactical formation for the team with the assistance of the club committee/captains and in line with the club's selection policy

4) To attend regular fixtures and competitions (home & away) to offer match day tactical support, motivation, coaching and team management

5) To be a positive and professional role model at all times, displaying good coaching conduct and promoting an enjoyable, motivating and inclusive atmosphere which upholds the ethos of Team Derby

6) To support and promote the development of the club, helping to meet its aims and objectives, and liaising with the Committee & Union staff on future development requirements

7) To work with the county sport and NGB to feedback and update the club with relevant developments in the sport

8) To be responsible for the safety of all participants during training/matches , ensuring the safe use of equipment by adhering to the Health & Safety guidelines of University facilities

9) To act in accordance with the coach code of practice and NGB guidelines

10) To abide by the University Equal opportunities policy at all times

11) Attend and contribute to any Coach Development Reviews during the season

12) Any other duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the Union of Students

Experience Required:

- Minimum Level 2 NGB qualification

- Previous relevant coaching experience

- Underpinning knowledge of sport

- Technical and practical skills and knowledge as required

- Track record of achievements

- Ability to work in a member-led democratic organisation

- Highly motivated, organised, approachable, enthusiastic self starter

- Knowledge of problem solving and decision making

- Communicate effectively on and off the court, verbally and in writing, at all levels over complex issues

- Evaluating performance and providing suitable feedback, balancing criticism with positive and motivating comments

- Assessing strengths and weakness in a participants performance and identifying areas for further development

- Encouraging participants to gain and develop skills, knowledge and techniques

- Ensuring that participants train and perform to a high standard of health and safety at all times

- Acting as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the people you work with

- Coordinating and maintaining records of participants performance and attendance

- Planning your own work schedule.
