2 Year fixed term contract

Hours- 30 hours per week

Salary - £22,183 per annum pro rata

Location: Leek (with travel across the Alliance)

This is an exciting time to work for Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and High Peak Borough Council (The Alliance) within our Service Commissioning Team.

An opportunity has now arisen to join the Leisure and Recreation team and help drive forwards delivery of our Physical Activity and Sport Strategies, 'Towards an Active Staffordshire Moorlands' and 'Towards an Active High Peak', which have a clear focus on increasing activity levels with a particular commitment to working with priority groups and geographical places with lowest participation levels and greater health inequalities.

We believe that walking has a huge role to play and as lead officer for the Walking Movement you will be responsible for the development and coordination of a wide range of walking initiatives across High Peak and Staffordshire Moorlands areas. The role would be responsible for developing effective partnership working with both internal council departments, local organisations including Public Health, Active Partnerships, our leisure centre operators, and community and voluntary organisations. If you have a strong interest and commitment to increasing physical activity through walking with a creative and flexible approach as to how we can do this we'd love to hear from you.
