Job Description

Job description

  • To support the delivery of sports and training sessions for disadvantaged 'In Learning' and NEET, inactive and unemployed young people (12-29) within S4L delivery areas
  • To support delivery against S4L's internal Delivery Frameworks inclusive of sports, qualification and employability curriculums
  • To support recruitment of young people both internally and externally to S4L sports and training sessions
  • To support the achievement of S4L's retention targets around sign up, attendance and progressions

Main duties and responsibilities

Partnerships & Recruitment

  • To support the recruitment of target young people within allocated areas of the community; parks and open spaces and other suitable environments through sports outreach
  • To support the conversion of young people from referral through to engagement on S4L sports and training sessions
  • To support the planning and delivery of sports tournaments as an outreach and recruitment activity
  • To support the signposting and referral of young people to internal mentoring and training opportunities

Sport & Training Delivery

  • To deliver sports, employability and training sessions targeted at 11-18's, 18-29's, and female-only in a range of community and school settings
  • To support the planning of S4L sports and training sessions
  • To support an intensive outcome-focused offer, addressing barriers to work and supporting them into sustainable employment, education or training by reporting young people's progress to S4L Employability Mentors
  • To establish and maintain positive and supportive relationships with young people, whilst supporting with achieving workshop capacity targets
  • To contact, communicate and support young people based on S4L Trainer delivery procedures and processes

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • To record and track client progress and gather required monitoring data
  • To adhere to the S4L's M&E process inclusive of, but not exclusive to registers, intake and assessment data, all outcome data, client feedback, and partner feedback

General duties

  • To support across both S4L Training and Mentoring services to achieve organisational wide aims including but not exclusive to recruitment, internal referrals, delivery and other responsibilities deemed fit by management
  • To uphold and reflect S4L values and mission statement
  • To analyse and evaluate personal performance and project performance
  • To complete basic administrative duties
  • To assist the Senior Operations Team with any other duties, as required
  • To assist the Operations Manager with any other duties, as required

Scope of Authority

  • Accountable to their Line Manager

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Evidence of CPD in youth education/ sport sector
  • A relevant Level 1 NGB in sport qualification
  • A relevant Level 2 NGB in sport qualification

Experience, Knowledge and skills in...

  • Recruiting young people to sports activities
  • Working with 11-29 year old hard to reach young people
  • Sports coaching and/ or youth work experience
  • Working with female-only groups
  • 1 years + sports coaching experience

Other

  • An infectious passion, enthusiasm & charisma
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • A fully enhanced DBS disclosure
  • Ability and confidence to work alone
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks, and use computers (e.g. email, word processing)
  • High levels of self-motivation, energy and determination
  • A polite, professional appearance & manner
  • Evidence of commitment S4L's vision
  • An interest in and passion for sport
