Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism

Developed by the Association for PE and Sports Leaders UK, this qualification aims to upskill those working in primary schools through a recognised qualification to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. This course is suitable for teachers, higher level teaching assistants, teaching assistants (TAs) and coaches (who assist teachers in PE Teaching). TAs and coaches should have extensive experience across year groups and pupil groups and play an integral part in assisting the raising of standards within primary school education. Delegates are not required to have QTS or GTCS accreditation.

Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism

**In light of the current COVID-19 situation it is possible that some of this course may be delivered online (via Zoom), face to face at Eastwood Hall, or a combination of both. We will continue to monitor the situation and inform you of our decision no later than two weeks before each course date.**

Candidates must attend and complete all 5 units to complete and be certificated for this qualification.
The training includes tutored hours and independent learning hours.

The Level 5 Certificate in Primary Physical Education Specialism is made up of 5 Units.

Unit 1 - Understanding primary school physical education
Unit 2 - Principles of pedagogy in primary school physical education
Unit 3 - Planning for continuity and progression in primary school physical education
Unit 4 - Using assessment to impact on learning and progress in primary school physical education
Unit 5 - Teaching primary school physical education

Candidates must attend and complete all 5 units across the six days to complete and be certificated for this qualification.

Upon successful completion of the Level 5, delegates (with QTS) will be invited to complete the optional Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership (at an additional cost):

· Observation
· Questioning of underpinning knowledge – either verbal or written
· Notes or planning work completed during the course
· Performance of set tasks
· Simulation
· Video/ photographic evidence
