1st4Sport Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport

Developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education and 1st4sport this qualification is ideal for Teaching Assistants, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and Coaches and will provide them with a greater understanding of programmes of study for physical education, the national curriculum and the environment in which they will be operating.

The units run over the year are:

Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults

U2

Schools as organisations

U3

Understanding Child and Young Person Development

U4

Understanding How to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People

U5

Support assessment for learning

U6

Prepare for Physical Education and School Sport activities

U7

Lead Physical Education and School Sport Activities

U8

Conclude and review Physical Education and School Sport activities

This course will take one year to complete and will involve attending a training session delivered half termly (some will be a half-day, some will be a full day). Delegates will need to attend all tutor led days. In addition Derby City SSP will provide distance learning support (telephone and e-mail support), a termly Level 3 clinic and a personalised individual meeting/ school visit.

This qualification has been identified as an effective use of some of the PE and School Sport Premium Funding
