Charity Status Funding
The Duke of Devonshire’s Charitable Trust
The Duke of Devonshire's Charitable Trust is a small grant-making family charity providing assistance to local capital projects. Preference is generally given to charities in certain areas including North East Derbyshire. However, support further afield may be agreed at the Trustees' discretion. The Trust can only consider applications from UK registered charities.
The Trust's donations in the last few years have typically been from £250 to £10,000.
The Trustees meet 3 or 4 times per year.

Funding available: See website for details
Deadlines: Rolling programme
Registered charities may apply to the Bernard Sunley Trust for capital funding. They offer three types of grant, small – up to and including £5,000, medium - £5,001 to £25,000 and large – over £25,000.
Applicants may apply for any level of grant, but they advise that large grants are exceptional. The majority of grants (roughly 80%) are 'small'.
The Discovery Foundation
The Santander Foundation has changed their name and their grant programmes. They are now called the Discovery Foundation and their Discovery Grants of up to £5,000 are available to fund an activity which supports one or more of their three priority themes:
- Explorer - improving knowledge and insight
This could include training / workshops for disadvantaged people to improve knowledge and insight about a particular subject.
- Transformer - developing skills and experience
This could include the provision of training and mentors to help disadvantaged people develop their skills. Or it could be for training for others to be able to help disadvantaged people.
- Changemaker - innovative solutions to social challenges
Their examples include an inclusive cycling social enterprise which adapts bicycles to enable people with disabilities to enjoy the outdoors.
Grants must directly benefit disadvantaged people and must be for something that is wholly charitable.
Funding is available to cover part time salaries, equipment or materials for up to one year for local projects. The Foundation aim to fund complete projects rather than a contribution to an appeal.
The application process is quick and simple. There are no closing dates and grants are made every month.
This programme is open to registered charities and CICs.
