About Active Derbyshire

Active Derbyshire is one of 44 Active Partnerships (APs) covering England.

Our purpose is to connect, influence, collaborate and enable opportunities for people to be physically active as part of their everyday life.

Active Derbyshire is part of Active Partners Trust, a single, legal entity supporting the work through two operating units, in Derbyshire and in Nottinghamshire, through Active Notts.

Our Vision

We want physical activity, including sport, to be the norm for people who live, study and work in our communities.

Find out more about our vision in the Towards an active Derbyshire Strategy.

Our values

We have five core values which underpin the work we do:

  • Making a difference
  • Working together
  • Acting with integrity
  • Leading by example
  • Striving for excellence

How we are funded

Funding for the work of Active Derbyshire is provided by a number of partners including Sport England, Derbyshire County Council, Amber Valley Borough Council, Bolsover District Council, Chesterfield Borough Council, Derby City Council, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Erewash Borough Council, High Peak Borough Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, South Derbyshire District Council and the University of Derby.

Funding from Sport England is a mixture of revenue funding for the core team and funding for specific programmes to increase participation in sport and physical activity. Active Derbyshire (and partners) work to a national specification agreed with Sport England.

How we are governed

An Active Partners Trust board governs the work of our organisation with an Active Derbyshire Panel overseeing the work within Derbyshire.
